Hello everyone! My name is Camila, and I am a senior at UF, majoring in Biology and pursuing a certificate in Spanish for the Professions within the pre-health track. I was born and raised in Chile, and I am a bilingual student. My first language is Spanish, and I had to learn English when I moved to the United States of America in 2017. Thus, I am interested in understanding the neurocognitive bases of bilingualism to have a glance at what happened to my brain when I was in the process of learning a second language. Currently, I am an RA in a study that explores the process of novel language learning in Spanish-English bilinguals and its neurocognitive impact. Finally, I aim to become a physician, and I am eager to apply the EEG skills and knowledge about neuroscience that I am currently gaining at the BLAB in my future profession. After all, I strongly believe in the power of the interconnection of disciplines and the importance of becoming a well-rounded person to provide a quality service in any profession.
