My research focus is language processing in healthy young adults. We use a combination of behavioral methods such as self-paced reading, electrophysiology (EEG, “brain waves”), eye-tracking, and corpus studies.
The main themes of my projects are:
- Predictive processing: Do native and second-language learners differ in the extent to which they can use particular lexical, syntactic, and prosodic information to anticipate upcoming words and syntactic categories?
- Priming and adaptation: Do native and second-language learners differ in how they adjust to the specifics of the language used in the context and by their interlocutor? Can also your working memory and attention be adapted depending on the language context?
- Code switching: how do bilinguals switch between their languages? Does it matter how often you switch in your daily usage of this language? Does it matter who you are interacting with?
- Non-invasive nerve stimulation and language learning: does nerve stimulation help you learn and remember language information?
