Hello, my name is Irene Martinez and I am an Innovation Academy Sophmore at the University of Florida, majoring in Psychology: Behavioral and Cognitive Neuroscience with a deep passion for early childhood development. My goal is to pursue a career in Speech-Language Pathology, where I can promote healthy developmental processes and support children in reaching their full potential through language and interaction.
Born in Spain and raised by Venezuelan parents, I've grown up with a strong appreciation for cultural diversity and connection, allowing me to contribute to the Hispanic community- an aspect of my identity that ceaselessly has inspired my values and work ethic as I continue to integrate myself.
Throughout my first year, I’ve integrated myself in the UF community through research and service, both of which I deem necessary in my professional and academic development. In taking part in English-teaching courses to Hispanic immigrants of the community through IMPACTO, the Hispanic-Latine Student Associations Member Leadership Program, and research with universities School of Psychology and Education, I’ve fallen in love with the vast opportunities and room for growth.
I’m beyond excited for what’s to come and to start working in BLAB as an undergraduate research assistant!
